Good Delivery Gold Bars

Good Delivery Gold Bars are the internationally accepted trading standard used by gold dealers, traders and bullion banks around the world to trade and deal in gold. Rand Refinery has been producing 400 troy ounce bars for this market since 1921 when these bars were first accredited London Good Delivery Status by the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA).

The refinery’s 100 troy ounce cast bars have also enjoyed good delivery status on the New York Mercantile Exchange (Comex Division) since 1974 and the 1 000 gram bars on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange (Tocom) since 1993.

In March 2005, Rand Refinery was the first refinery to receive ‘Dubai Good Delivery Status’ as awarded by the Dubai Metals and Commodity Centre (DMCC). The DMCC good delivery status applies to bars weighing one kilogram and which have been stamped with the year of fabrication.

Bars weighing one kilogram and less

The company also manufactures and markets other standard cast gold bars with the official stamp of Rand Refinery, namely the 1000 gram, 500gm, 100 gram, 10 tola, 5 tola, 10 tael and 5 tael bars.

The weight specifications for the different markets are as follows:

India – 1000gm bars of 99,50 purity, 100gm bars of 99.90 purity
Turkey – 1000gm bars of 99,90 purity
Italy – 1000gm bars of 99,99 purity
Middle East – 1000gm bars of 99,50 purity
Far East (China, Taiwan etc) – 5 and 10 tael bars of 99,99 purity
Pakistan and Sri Lanka – 5 and 10 tola bars of 99,90 purity

Since 1994, Rand Refinery has become a major supplier of kilobars and ten tola bars into the world markets in direct response to changing demand patterns.

Like their cousins, Good Delivery Gold Bars, Good Delivery Silver Bars are the internationally accepted trading standard used by silver dealers, traders and bullion banks around the world to trade and deal in silver. Rand Refinery’s 1 000 troy ounce silver bars have had good delivery status on the London Metal Exchange since inception of silver accreditation.
